
Hail to the Chief: President George W. Bush flew to Anne Arundel Community College on March 2 to address an audience of about 900 state and local residents. In a "conversation" about the importance of education and workforce development, he praised the nation's community colleges for providing flexible, affordable education. Gov. Robert L. Smith, Anne Arundel Medical Center Vice President of Human Resources Joyce Phillip and two community college students, Jeannetta Smith and Elliott Ward, joined the president on stage.

Mardi Gras Gala: Fat Tuesday had come and gone, but party-goers at the Cultural Arts Foundation's annual Mardi Gras event on February 26 celebrated nonetheless, enjoying an evening of New Orleans-style revelry at the Sheraton Barceló. The evening raised funds to support Anne Arundel County arts organizations.
