So much for my 99-94 (or thereabouts) Wizards over the Cavaliers prediction yesterday. The Wiz got thumped and hard. They really put up a lame-duck performance against the Cavs. I'm surprised and upset. You just can't do that in the playoffs. It was weak and pathetic and really harks back to the typical old Wizards of the past 3 seasons, who can hang with the big boys on a good night and surprisingly down the best competition only to fall flat in games that really count. We'll see if the D.C. home crowd can get them back into a groove in Game 3.

Meanwhile, the Caps continued the trend I previousely alluded too. They continued to outmuscle the Flyers and created offense with sharp passing and even banging home a rebound. Ovechkin's breakaway goal (thank you Mr. Kozlov for that picture perfect pass) was something to behold--the league's runaway star and MVP candidate going mono y mono against Martin Biron. If Biron didn't leave his undies at home, then he certainly lost em on that sick deek by Ovie. Stunning. That eventual game winner provided the momentum needed to finish off the Flyers last night.

So it's back to Verizon Center tonight for another Red Out. This is playoff hockey at its best. Game 7. Exactly 20 years ago the Caps came from behind, down 3 games to 1, versus the Flyers to win the series on an overtime goal by Dale Hunter. Will tonight have add another storybook ending to Caps history?

I know I'm tuning in to find out.
