Make way for the Swamp Boogie! Barbecue Bob & the Spareribs is bayou blues with its hair on fire, with twanging guitars, stinging harmonicas, and enough testosterone to fuel a Peterbilt. BBQ Bob and his boys are another quality offering from the excellent Country/Rockabilly scene that’s been growing like a bourbon-soaked seedling in NYC.
The overwhelming theme flowing from BBQ Bob’s sound is ENERGY, which spikes and surges almost like a punk rock show. But punk this ain’t-it’s a cotton field, juke joint, rebel war cry. Fans of Rev. Horton Heat, John Hiatt, and Southern Culture on the Skids will be dancing in the aisles with lampshades on their heads in pure glee.
With song titles like "Thinkin with the Wrong Head", and "Too Bored to Live-Too Dumb to Die", you don’t need a roadmap to get the picture of where Barbecue Bob & the Spareribs is coming from.
