Paint Saints

A wonderful exhibit featuring two of our nation’s greatest 20th century painters will be on display at the Mitchell Gallery at St. John’s College in Annapolis 3/11–4/18. Robert Motherwell & Jasper Johns: Poetic Works as Metaphor will feature 19 abstract expressionistic lithographs by Motherwell and 31 pop and minimal art etchings by Johns. The nationally ninth-ranked Navy men’s lacrosse team will square off against three foes at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium in Annapolis this month: 3/11 vs. Lehigh, 3/19 vs. 17 th -ranked Bucknell, and 3/29 vs. fourth-ranked Georgetown. Meanwhile the women’s team, in its first year as varsity, plays five home games at the stadium: 3/1 vs. Niagara, 3/8 vs. Cincinnati, 3/9 vs. St. Mary’s, 3/15 vs. Holy Cross, and 3/25 vs. Canisius. International Music Competition


Enjoy a spectacular day of chamber music concerts during the Chesapeake Chamber Music Competition on Saturday, March 29 from 1-9:30 p.m. Five young ensembles including the Attacca Quartet of New York, the Credo Quartet of Russia, the Gracieux Trio of New York, the N-E-W Trio of New York, and the ViM Saxophone Quartet of Washington, D.C. will compete for a top prize of $10,000 and second place prize of $5,000.
