Antiquing for a Cause

Three-day show and sale benefits local Mental Health Association

Featuring dealers from all over the region, the 16th annual charity antiques show and sale returns to the Waterfowl Building the weekend of March 21–22. Last year’s event brought 18 East Coast dealers, whose antiques covered a spectrum of styles, eras, and media. Proceeds benefit the Mental Health Association in Talbot County. Harlem Globetrotters take B-ball exhibition to Salisbury

Meadowlark Lemon isn't donning the red, white, and blue for the Globetrotters anymore, but those showboating showstoppers are still humbling the hapless Generals to the delight of audiences everywhere, more than 70 years after inventing their unique brand of basketball. EaglePalooza

9th Annual Eagle Festival celebrates Blackwater’s iconic native

Home to the largest breeding population of bald eagles on the East Coast (north of Florida), Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge honors its most revered native species with this annual celebration at the refuge’s Visitors Center on March 14 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. The festival includes live eagle and peregrine falcon (another species native to the refuge) demonstrations, kids’ programs, bird walks, and eagle prowls. Wine Down

Fine wines, gourmet food pairing raises funds for new fire station

Now in its fourth year, the Kent Island Volunteer Fire Department’s Wine Pairing Extravaganza has become a local favorite, as renowned wine stewards pair vintage wines with gourmet dishes provided by chefs from all over the region. This year’s event comes to the Kent Island Volunteer Fire Department in Stevensville on March 27 from 7–10 p.m., with all proceeds benefiting the capital campaign for a new fire station. From Russia with Love

Russian National Ballet Theatre plies to USNA performance

Founded in 1989, the Russian National Ballet Theatre has sought to continue the grand traditions of Russian ballet, completing two tours of Europe and staging successful performances across Asia in the process. This collection of leading Russian dancers performs the love story Giselle, by Adolphe Adam, at the United States Naval Academy’s Alumni Hall on March 9 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $29.50.
