Acme Bar & Grill
163 Main Street, Annapolis
410-280-6486

Wile E. Coyote of Road Runner cartoon fame was always equipped with handy items labeled "Acme:" Acme anvils, Acme concrete, Acme boomerangs, Acme atom re-arrangers.

If he'd been packing food, he'd definitely have been carrying Acme chicken wings, from Annapolis' very own Acme Bar & Grill on Main Street. They're that good.

Acme feels comfortable and authentic from the moment you walk in the door. A welcoming bar worn by many an elbow and glass fills most of the room, with booths and tables opposite. There's fine music every night (live bands or DJs) and a plentiful selection of both draft and bottled beers. And if you've come with an appetite, the surprisingly large menu offers up numerous temptations.

A quick look around the room confirms, however, that chicken wings are the item to try. Acme is famous for them-they earned "Best of Annapolis" honors this year, which is reason enough to order up a plate in one of a dozen flavors. Choose a heat quotient ranging from regular to insane, in quantities of ten to 40 (the Combo Platter, with 25 wings in five different flavors, gives you the chance to mix and match). Memphis Gold is a favorite variety, but you want to document the subtle differences between Buffalo, Buff-a-que and Bar-b-que, or sample the Old-Bay seasoned Chesapeake.

Acme serves a choice of soups, big and small salads, hot and cold sandwiches and burgers, too, along with several Mexican specialties (served with homemade salsas), seafood and pasta, steaks and crabcakes. All in all, it's a selection that will please just about anyone.

So if you're in the mood for a meal and a brew in a convivial atmosphere, stop in to Acme Bar & Grill soon. Tell them Wile E. sent you.
