Taste of the Chesapeake

Wharfside Bar and Grill
158 West Central Avenue, Edgewater
410-798-4545

It’s quite possible that you’ve never heard of Wharfside Bar and Grill, but this little spot, once known as Pee Wee’s Place, is easy to find on Central Avenue in Edgewater. The tiny, gray cottage looks like it might house a small family, and in truth, Wharfside isn’t huge. It has just a few tables and a bar that seats ten people. But this local hangout is a fun place. It’s not a fancy joint (and despite the name, not waterfront), but a unique setting for relaxing, hanging out and enjoying a few beers.

Wharfside’s bar is fully stocked, with a nice selection of drafts. There are TV’s in every corner, and hours of KENO play. If you’re tired of the larger downtown Annapolis bars and like a more relaxed atmosphere, this could be your ideal stomping ground.

It seems everyone knows everyone here, but new customers are certainly not outcasts. The owner and staff welcome all comers whole-heartedly. The servers and bartenders couldn’t be friendlier and more accommodating. And the whole restaurant is brand spankin’ new—from the clean marble countertops of the bar to the beautiful wood floors. Wharfside was totally gutted and re-done about a year ago. Talk about a transformation!

Breakfast is very popular on weekdays, where the place gets packed. For lunch and dinner, Wharfside serves a variety of sandwiches, hot and cold, as well as steak and some seafood selections. Don’t be surprised if you’re served one of the largest sandwiches you’ve seen—for an extremely reasonable price. They are mammoth. Try the hot turkey, meatloaf, or steak and cheese. Wharfside also claim to have the best Reubens in town. For entrees, we recommend the pork chops, steaks, fried shrimp, or fish of the day.
