    Rotary Ball

    The first annual Black Tie & Diamonds gala, hosted by Annapolis Rotary Club at the Loews Annapolis Hotel on May 8, raised funds to re-vitalize a city jewel: Newman Street Park. More than 275 guests enjoyed cocktails and dinner, live music and dancing, a $15,000 raffle and a live auction (including a pair of diamond earrings donated by the Tilghman Company).

    May Basket Tea

    Winners of the 48th Annual May Basket competition, sponsored each year by the Garden Club of Old Annapolis Towne, were invited to a May Day Tea on May 3 in appreciation of their efforts. From left, Patricia Blick of the Historic Annapolis Foundation, guest of Garden Club member Barbara Cooper; Cecilia Benalcazar, winner for her residential basket at 47 Dean Street, and Mary Jolliffe, who made the winning entry for Galway Bay on Maryland Avenue.

    Ballet Theatre Ball

    A swing-themed soiree to benefit Ballet Theatre of Maryland drew dance devotees to the Annapolis Elks Club on April 17. BTM's Fun Ball offered dancing to the Crabtowne Big Band with a silent auction and raffle of a two-week trip to London and Paris.

    Chez Ami Bed & Breakfast

    Chez Ami Bed & Breakfast recently celebrated its tenth anniversary in Annapolis with a gathering of friends, neighbors and former guests. Owners Mickie and Don Deline welcomed 125 people to the former grocery store, operated by the Sams Brothers from the 1920's to the 1970's.
