The Friends of the Annapolis Symphony Orchestra’s 45th anniversary luncheon was held recently at the Power House at Loews Annapolis Hotel. About 100 people attended the event, where outgoing president Anna E. Greenberg of Annapolis presented the gavel to Judi Tanner of Arnold. The FASO presented a $33,000 check to the symphony. Past FASO presidents in attendance included Suzanne Barthold, Marilyn Dobson, Roxanne Moore, Judy Sander, Diane E. Green, James Cheevers, and Joanna Hanes-Lahr.

The Annapolis Area Christian School’s 6th Annual Athletics Golf Classic was held May 11 at the Queenstown Harbor Golf Club. One hundred forty four area golfers participated in the fundraiser to help with tuition assistance and faculty development. Each year AACS provides more than $1 million in tuition assistance.

The 26th Annual Awards Ceremony held by Scholarships for Scholars, Inc. took place on April 27th at the Chesapeake Arts Center in Brooklyn Park. Since 1983, Scholarships for Scholars, Inc. has awarded $2,000,000 in scholarships to graduating high school seniors who reside and attend school in Anne Arundel County. This year, 32 students received awards totaling $133,000.

Max Schulman of Key School received the Journalism Scholarship for $5,000 from Colleen Wilson, Chairman of the Board of Scholarships for Scholars, Inc.

Charlotte Steiner of Severna Park High School received the Music Scholarship for $5,000.

Elizabeth McLellan of South River High School earned the Board of Education Scholarship totaling $6,000. Enrique Melenez, President-Board of Education, presents the scholarship.

Austin Lopez of Northeast High School received the Dr. Edward J. Anderson Scholarship for $7,000 from Elizabeth Smith Anderson.
