Why so many hats? This is our Best of Annapolis issue and we are “Tipping our Hats” to the winners. The votes are in, the results have been counted, and I am thrilled to be able to reward our deservedly proud winners.
What a response we had! This year we received at least 2,000 more votes than in previous years. Even more than in 2008, and I remember being astonished last year by how many of you filled out that rather complicated and long form. We really are a community that cares! Or is it, that we’re opinionated? And yes, it really is the voters who make the choices. All we do at What’s Up? Publishing is dream up the categories and count the votes—that’s enough excitement for us!
Back to the hats. On June 23rd you are invited to join us at the Loews Annapolis Hotel for the Best of Annapolis & Eastern Shore Party where you can taste winning dishes of the best restaurants and caterers, drink wine samples from the best wine lists, and tip your hats with us to all winners and each other. After all, we are all the best! During the evening our photographers will choose the best, most beautiful or outrageous hat and the lucky hat wearer will win $500.
This party is also known for the best silent auction, in which the 100 percent of the money raised is given to local charities. This year, What’s Up? Publishing has pledged to raise at least $5,000 towards continuing the tradition of the flowers throughout our downtown shopping district , and I know with your help we can raise at least another $15,000 for our charities that are hurting so badly during this recession. So join us in your Hats on June 23rd, have a wonderful time, and help us reach our goal.
