2009African American Heritage Festival 

is an annual family celebration of the history, culture, education, heritage and arts that embraces and promotes the rich traditions and zestful spirit of the city of Baltimore. Participate in a diverse offering of arts and entertainment including national and local talent; educational and historical exhibits; interactive children's area; and crafts from more than 100 vendors, community organizations and merchants. 43rd Annual Smithsonian Folklife Festival 

is a special annual event sponsored each June-July by the Center for Folklife and Cultural Heritage celebrating cultural traditions around the world. The Folklife Festival includes daily and evening music and dance performances, crafts and cooking demonstrations, storytelling and discussions of cultural issues. The themes of the 2009 program will be: Giving Voice: The Power of Words (African American Culture), The Americas and Wales. At the National Mall, Washington, D.C. Annual Carnival & 4th of July Celebration 

is sponsored by Easton Main Street in partnership with the Avalon Foundation. Festivities include rides, carnival food, live music, games, and prizes. On the 4th of July itself, the traditional Independence Day Celebration is a major community event. Local non-profit groups provide concession food booths, an annual fundraiser. Several musical acts are presented on stage, as well as a patriotic program to honor veterans. At dusk, the Mid-Shore’s finest Fireworks display lights up Easton.
