Arts Alive!

Under a pair of tents against the backdrop of a night sky, Maryland Hall hosted Arts Alive! on September 9, 2005. With the assistance of 100 volunteers, 450 people attended the fundraising event, including Governor Ehrlich and his wife Kendall, and Mayor Ellen Moyer. The gala raised approximately $120,000 dedicated to the center's education, and performing and visual arts programs, and capital improvements. Guests dined on a buffet dinner courtesy of Outback Steakhouse, amid greenery donated by Homestead Gardens.

Over 500 people arrived at Loews Hotel to enjoy the delectable array of food and beverage samples, informational booths on local best services, and those little extras like long-stemmed roses and massages, entirely supplied by our winners. Costumed members of the Annapolis Chorale and the First Night Revelers greeted guests. They enjoyed humorous entertainment and mime routines by Cirque Magnifique, along with a performance by the Annapolis Chorale. At the main stage, Master of Ceremonies D.J. Rob Timm introduced performers that included the Rob Levit Trio with Frank Russo and Amy Shook, Annapolis Symphony Orchestra, musicians Paul and Kevina Moeller, Doug Segree, and Ballet Theater of Maryland dancers Bryan and Jamie Skites. Mayor Ellen Moyer, with the assistance of What's Up? Annapolis publisher Veronica Meneely, distributed the winning "Best Of" plaques to the Best of Annapolis 2005 winners.

Community Response to Katrina

In response to the devastation caused by hurricane Katrina, the agents of Caldwell Banker Residential Real Estate sponsored a drive to collect toiletries, diapers, blankets, towels, shoes, toys, and flashlights for displaced residents of the stricken communities. All the items gathered were shipped free of charge by Delta Airlines.
