Letter From The Editor

Dear Readers,

When I was little, G.I. Joe drilled the term “knowing is half the battle” into my head. (Hey, I have a younger brother who really loved cartoons.) While it’s hard to compare a bride-to-be to a camouflage-clad action hero, I’ve always believed in what Joe told me, and feel that his credo applies to all aspects of life—even wedding planning. And so, our mission here at What’s Up? Weddings is to give you all of the information you need to make your wedding planning as easy and stress-free as it can possibly be—it is supposed to be fun, after all!

In this issue, you will find articles on everything from how to shop for a wedding dress and cake to how to choose your invitations, flowers, and gifts for the bridal party. Turn to our Ultimate Wedding Guide on page 59 to chose your local venue, hotels, and caterer. Want an unusual venue? Float the idea of a nautical setting, the quintessential Chesapeake experience.

Speaking of all-things-local, we are thrilled to introduce a Chesapeake Bay weddings section in this issue. For snapshots of four beautiful local celebrations, turn to page 52. We hope that the amazing photos in this issue inspire some great ideas.

Enjoy the issue, and take everything you can from it. If knowing is half the battle, the other half involves adding fun, creative, personalized touches to your wedding. This is what we want you to spend time on. Happy planning!
