Concert for a Cure
Rock out for a cause with the Paul Reed Smith
Band at the Avalon Theatre in Easton! Combining elements of funk, rock, hip hop, jazz, gospel, and more, it’s impossible for any music lover not to enjoy the band’s self-described “Chesapeake gumbo” sound. The concert will be held on Friday, February 6th, at 8 p.m., to benefit Susan G. Komen Maryland. Net proceeds will support community grant programs, which provide access to screenings, treatments, clinical trials, and support services. General admission is $40. Premium tickets are $75, and include reserved seating and a pre-concert reception with the band at 6 p.m., along with hors d’oeuvres and drinks. St. John’s College
St. John’s College’s annual two-day wine event, In Vino Veritas, opens this year with a dinner and wine tasting that celebrates the legacy of great American winemaking. On Friday, February 27th, special guest Warren Winiarski, founder of Stag’s Leap Wine Cellars, joins a panel of notable winemakers and connoisseurs in an exclusive evening of wine tasting. At the Grand Tasting on Saturday, February 28th, guests can explore more than 100 wines from around the world, meet the vintners, and sample wines and hors d’oeuvres. Workshops will also be offered throughout the afternoon. Proceeds from the event benefit scholarships for St. John’s College undergraduate students. A Valentine’s 5K
Kick off the 2015 running season with the 33rd Annual Valentine’s 5K at Kinder Farm Park in Millersville. Held on Saturday, February 14th, the run begins at 10 a.m. The cost to participate is $5 for members of the Annapolis Striders and $10 for non-members. Annapolis Home & Remodeling Expo
The 10th Annual Annapolis Home and Remodeling Expo, showcasing products and services for the home, will run for
two weekends: February Feb. 21st and 22nd, Feb. 28th through March 1st from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. on Saturdays and
11 a.m.-5 p.m. on Sundays at the National Guard Armory Expo Hall in Annapolis. The Expo gives educational seminars with national and local celebrities on everything from landscaping, home improvement, and antiques. Seminar speakers include Matt Blashaw, host of the popular Yard Crashers on HGTV and the DIY Network, and Alison Victoria, host of Kitchen Crashers on the DIY Network. More than 80 companies will be showcasing products and services including kitchen and bath displays, decking, fencing, countertops, tile, home energy systems, home financing, landscaping, interior design, window treatments, roofing, waterproofing, heating and air, and more. Tickets are available at the door. Adults are $5. Tickets for active and retired military are only $3. One ticket is valid for both weekends. OBI’s Annual Mardi Gras Celebration
Enjoy an evening of Mardi Gras fun on Saturday, February 7th, to benefit Opportunity Builders, Inc. The celebration, which runs from 6 to 10 p.m., features live music by Sly 45, casino games, silent and live auctions, and more, at the OBI Warehouse in Millersville.
