Members of Annapolis' own band, Swampcandy made news on Roanoke, Virginia television station WDBJ7 this morning to promote their gig opening for none other than rock legend and recent Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee, Joan Jett of The Runaways fame and Joan Jett & The Blackhearts.
Swampcandy is a primitive Blues influenced Americana band with Ruben Dobbs on Guitar and Vocals, Joey Mitchell on Standup Bass and Kickdrum, and the recent addition of Dominic Fragman on Drums. They play gritty foot stompin’ originals and cite such Blues influences as Robert Johnson and Son House. Swampcandy hits the stage at 6:15 p.m. tonight at Elmood Park with Joan Jett & The Blackhearts headlining.
