Tired of shopping at crowded, noisy malls? Come join us at the Main Street Gallery in Cam idge, MD, for a two-month long exhibit of artwork that is perfect for a holiday gift. Here you can shop for truly unique items from some of Maryland's best crafts people and fine artists.
This multi-media show, Art for the Holidays, includes every category of art and craft. Paintings, drawings, photographs, pottery, sculpture, jewelry, fa ic art, woodwork, and other items for that special person on your gift list will be on display. Come stroll through our beautiful facility and meet the creative participating artists at our Second Saturday reception.
For this exhibit, Main Street Gallery's resident artists will show smaller works, suitably sized and priced for gift-giving. They will be joined by other artists and crafts people to ing you a wide variety of artwork. "Handmade, local art, given as a gift, is not only a tribute to the Eastern Shore region and its people, but is a gift to last a lifetime," said Main Street's Director, Fran Saunders. "We hope everyone will visit us during this holiday season."
Art for the Holidays opened on November 4, 2011 and runs through December 30. A reception will be held on December 10, from 5 to 9pm. Light snacks and beverages will be available. During the reception, the gallery's own Dave Harp and his book partner Tom Horton will be present, and will sign copies of their new book, Swanfall: Journey of the Tundra Swans. This 4th book by the dynamic Tom Horton/Dave Harp writer/photographer team gives us a glimpse into the behavior and habitat of this most graceful of swan species. Then at 7:30pm, we will be holding a raffle drawing that will enable participants to take art home for the holidays. Purchasing a $15 ticket will entitle the holder to select his/her choice of designated artwork on display. "This could be a chance of a lifetime for people to own quality art," said Ms. Saunders. All proceeds will go towards supporting gallery programs and exhibits. Look for the yellow dots that designate these items. They are all displayed on the wall to the left of the entrance door.
The gallery is participating in radio HEAT's, Turn up the Heat on Cam idge promotion from October to December. Items marked with a green dot on the label are eligible for a 10.6% discount! Green dot purchases are eligible for HEAT'S iPod drawing.
Special holiday hours will be in effect for December. The gallery will be open Thursday through Saturday from 11am to 5pm and on Sunday from 12 to 3pm, but closed on Thanksgiving and Christmas.
