We have been stuck in the house a while now and I’m sure that couples everywhere have become professionals at driving their significant other crazy. Even if you are not yet ready to leave the house, it is time for a little date night. You can always have a movie marathon or simply a homemade drink together, or you can take a look at one of these more fun activities. Try one of these at home date night ideas and bring back the spark!
Finish a Project
Find a project around the house, pour a glass of wine, crank some music, and get the project finished together. Whether it is painting a bedroom wall or rearranging the basement furniture, make a boring project fun and easy. Added bonus: you are still being productive and getting things done!
Game Tournament
Pick a few of your favorite board games and a few of your partners favorite and make a game tournament night. Keep track of your scores in each game and make up a punishment for the loser. Having a punishment of walking the dog, unloading the dishwasher, or doing after dinner dishes is harmless but still puts something on the line and makes the games more competitive and more fun.
Cook a Meal Together
I am sure there is a new meal you saw online that you have been dying to try. Make it a team effort to put the meal together. Or, you can make this a competition as well. Both of you can cook the meal and then do a taste test to see which turned out better. Even better, make it a blind taste test and let the kids be the judge.
Make Your Own Wine Tasting
If you open my wine cabinet, you will find a ton of wines that have been gifted to me and I have never tried. I can’t be the only one in that situation. Grab a few wines that have labels that really stand out to you and create your own wine tasting. Pull out the cheese and crackers, make a charcuterie plate, and find a new favorite wine.
Plant Your Own Garden
Get your gardening gloves on and plant your own vegetable gardens. It will be fun to put together now, but it will be even more fun to create a dinner around your truly homegrown fruit once they grow. Plant your favorite vegetables and plant a few that you are eager to try. See who has a better green thumb, or teach your partner your gardening techniques.
Scrapbook
Grab the shoeboxes from the closet filled with old pictures of you and your partner growing up or of you and your significant other’s first few years together and make a scrapbook. Even if you arn’t crafty, this will create easy conversation, bring up old forgotten stories and memories, and is an easy way to keep learning about you partner whether you have been together 5 years or 50 years.
