For someone who hesitantly began playing youth football with the Cape St. Claire Cougars, Keonte Henson sure has made a name for himself as an exceptional safety with the Broadneck Bruins.
Henson, a self-proclaimed momma's boy, says he was “iffy” about playing the sport but loved it once he got the hang of it. He now uses it as an outlet.
“I just love being able to take out all that stress that life ings in the sport,” Henson says. “I get to hit people. That's fun. I get to do what I love.”
His top moment came against North County during homecoming his junior year when he intercepted two passes for touchdowns.
He is heavily involved in his local church, working as the president of the Methodist Youth Foundation and is a member of the chorus. For the last three summers he has worked at a local youth camp and is a member of Broadneck Ambassadors.
Henson will be playing football locally at Johns Hopkins. His choice didn't come from a lack of interest, having been recruited by Harvard, Cornell, and the Naval Academy and receiving interest from Lafayette, Lehigh, Brown, Penn, and Yale.
