Beatlemania! The Fab Four – A Tribute to The Beatles perform at Maryland Live! on Thursday, July 23rd and Last Sunday @49 Presents All You Need is Beatles on Sunday, July 26th. Practically every day of the year contains some sort of Beatle trivia! For Fab Four Fanatics, July is an especially glorious month chockfull of fun facts. Perhaps, that’s why we find our local music venues performing tributes to The Beatles this weekend (Yes, at What’s Up? Media our corporate culture dictates that the weekend starts on Thursday!). Ringo Starr, born Richard Starkey was born on July 7, 1940. The album Please Please Me is released in the U.S. in July, but it is titled Introducing the Beatles. A Hard Day’s Night, Help!, and Yellow Submarine (Beatle films) all premiere during various years in the month of July to rave reviews. And July 6, 1957 is the fateful day when the stars aligned, a holy moment – John Lennon meets Paul McCartney in Liverpool at St. Peter’s Church.

Fun Factoid: According to Legend, A Teenager in Maryland Started Beatlemania in the U.S.
According to legend, Beatlemania taking off in the U.S. can be largely attributed to a 15-year-old Marylander named, Marsha Albert. After seeing a news segment about the band, Albert called a local radio station in Washington, D.C., and asked, “Why can’t we have music like that here in America?” The DJ then tracked down a copy of "I Want To Hold Your Hand," and the station playing the record caused demand to skyrocket and other stations to play The Beatles as well. Worth noting: A DJ named, Dick Biondi attempted to make The Beatles "happen" by playing them on stations in both Chicago and Los Angeles but the songs didn't take off in either city.Source: Huffingtonpost.com
