Tilghman Island Seafood Festival

Seafood to be served includes: steamed crabs, soft crabs, crab cakes, fried clams, steamed cherry stone clams, steamed shrimp, fish sandwiches, corn on the cob, BBQ, and more. Children’s activities and games, nautical artisans, and craft vendors are part of the festivities. Live music begins at noon. Crab race starts at 2 p.m. and Fireman’s Parade is at 3 p.m. Skipjack cruises will be available at Dogwood Harbor. All proceeds go to the Tilghman Volunteer Fire Department. brThe Annapolis Maritime Museum offers 10 weeks of free Thursday night concerts at their beach-side venue. The series is every Thursday now through Thursday, August 20th. This Thursday features music from The Shatners. Concerts are 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. (weather permitting). Admission is free, however, a donation of $10 per person is suggested. Food and drink is available for sale. Please bring your own blanket or chair but please do not bring your own coolers/beverages, proceeds from beverage sales supports their education program in Title1 schools. brChesapeake photographer Jay Fleming’s work will be featured in a new, temporary exhibition at the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum. The Unseen Chesapeake: Capturing the Bay’s Wild, Forgotten Landscapes opens to the general public this Thursday, June 25, 2015. The exhibition is free for CBMM members or with general museum admission. The show continues through November 20, 2015.brThe Unseen Chesapeake features a selection of photographs from Fleming, all captured in or along the waters of the Chesapeake Bay, and can be seen in the Van Lennep Auditorium of the museum’s Steamboat Building. The images document the Chesapeake’s seldom-seen animals, vistas, and traditions encountered by Fleming, from techniques like oyster nippering to a close-up look at a recent Bay newcomer, the pelican. A CBMM members-only meet and greet with the photographer will take place from 5:30–6:30 p.m. with an opening reception for the general public from 6:30 – 7:30 p.m. Participants will have the opportunity to purchase signed prints of Fleming’s works at the event. State of the Rivers Party

brMidshore Riverkeeper Conservancy (MRC) will present results from their 2014 Report Card at a State of the Rivers Party. Miles-Wye Riverkeeper Jeff Horstman and Choptank Riverkeeper Matt Pluta, along with other experts and educators from MRC’s staff, will explain and interpret results derived from extensive monitoring done last year. Scientists and MRC’s 50 Creekwatcher volunteers collected water quality samples at over 100 sites in sampling jurisdictions on the Choptank River, Miles River, Wye River, Tred Avon River, Tuckahoe River, Harris Creek, Broad Creek, Island Creek, La Trappe Creek, and Eastern Bay on the southern tip of Kent Island. The State of the Rivers Party is free and open to the public. Enjoy the waterfront view from the River Room at the Cambridge Yacht Club located in the scenic, historic city of Cambridge. Light refreshments will be served. A delicious dinner menu will be available for those who wish to purchase a meal after the State of the Rivers Party.
