Arts Alive! 17 Gala

Sherlock’s Last Case

brThe play centers on a death threat against Sherlock Holmes by the supposed son of his late nemesis, Professor Moriarty. Oddly enough, however, Holmes is warned of the plot by Moriarty's daughter, to whom Holmes (who turns out to be quite a ladies' man) is strongly attracted. In sorting all this out the play mixes humor and suspense in equal amounts, leading to a stunning final twist that will surely catch audiences by complete and breath-stopping surprise.

6th Wounded Warrior Sailing Regatta

brThe sailing regatta offers wounded warriors and their family members an opportunity to experience the thrill of sailing in competitive races in Annapolis harbor with the support of warrior and disabled sailing organizations. The National Sailing Hall of Fame has been the home port of the event for several years as they work to expand the Wounded Warrior Sailing Regatta to their member yacht and sailing clubs around the country. Chesapeake Region Accessible Boating (CRAB) operates four Freedom 20’s specially custom outfitted with seating to accommodate mobility challenged sailors. Wounded warriors in wheelchairs have been provided access to sailing that would be difficult if not impossible with standard sailboats. CRAB also provides wounded warriors with the opportunity to learn more about sailing throughout the summer months. In addition, the US Naval Academy has supported the event with sailboats and Midshipmen to greatly enhance the experience between the next generation of war fighters/peacekeepers and our nation’s wounded warriors. Sailing will be followed by a trophy presentation and pizza lunch with members of the crew. Reservations required.
That One Eyed Kid

brBoston-based artist, That One Eyed Kid brings a soulful edge to Synth-Pop. Josh strives to create music that straddles the line between accessible and intriguing. That One Eyed Kid’s animated music is sure to make you dance. Josh's music resonates positivity, an attitude he cultivated as a teenager from battling and surviving cancer. This Boston University graduate began cultivating quite a following performing on campus and releasing beautiful piano covers of popular tunes on YouTube.
