Mark D. Lentz, DMD | Endodontist | Annapolis Endodontics
Dr. Mark Lentz received his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine and completed a general practice residency at the Pittsburgh VA Hospital. He returned to the University of Pittsburgh to complete specialty training in endodontics. One year after completion of his endodontic residency, he successfully achieved the prestigious Board Certification status of Diplomate.
Dr. Lentz is highly involved with research and outreach in endodontics and has presented research at the annual session of the American Association of Endodontists. He also served as a member of the American Association of Endodontists Corporate Relations Committee. In addition, Dr. Lentz is involved with continuing education and is the founder of the Annapolis Spear Study Club. He is also a member of the Triple Crown Study Club and Anne Arundel County Dental Society.
What excites you most about your profession?
I am grateful for the opportunity to improve the quality of life for members of our community. Frequently, our patients come to us in pain and are anxious about getting a root canal. Advances in root canal treatment allow patients to leave our practice experiencing relief and saving their teeth in an hour or less. I am honored to provide this service on a day-to-day basis.
What technological advancements are you seeing in the field of endodontics?
The continued use of a surgical microscope and Cone Beam CT (“CAT scan”) allows our practice to efficiently diagnose and plan root canal treatment for our patients.
In addition, I employ the use of an innovative laser to enhance disinfection and clean the root canal system, which allows for efficient treatment time and reduced post-operative sensitivity.
What makes Annapolis Endodontics stand out from other practices in the area?
We take pride in providing same-day emergency evaluation and treatment to our patients experiencing pain and infection. Our practice is the oldest endodontics practice in town, and referring dentists have trusted our practice to serve their patients for more than 40 years. We are grateful to have a kind and caring staff that makes patients feel comfortable from the moment they contact our practice.
