Sales Manager & Waterfront Specialist, REALTOR®
Meet Steven Arcé, a licensed REALTOR and sales manager of Anne Arundel County’s top waterfront sales team. He has been an integral part of the team’s sales effort since 2017 resulting in $400,000,000 worth of business.
Steven, please tell us about your journey into real estate and how you developed your passion for the industry.
Before the age of computers, my dad handed my hand-written assignment back to me and said, “Take pride in your work… your name is on it.” He had me re-start from the beginning! That moment always stuck with me and, once I was old enough to work, I developed a passion for customer service. I spent many years in sales and the hospitality industry and built my career from bartending to restaurant management, selling wine to retail accounts, and assisting clients with home mortgages. It was a very natural trajectory to land in real estate! Through it all, I’ve kept a competitive mindset to obsessively strive for excellence.
What housing trends are you seeing, locally?
Buyers are still seeking that open floor plan with walls of windows that let in tons of natural light and allow for big views of the property. Many families have had a need for home offices and workspaces in the last couple of years. The buyers’ creativity to carve out these spaces in homes with less square footage, or even figure out ways to make larger square footage really meet their needs, has been enjoyable to watch and experience. In terms of location everyone has a different checklist: big views, deep water depth, blue ribbon schools, or convenient commute location. Our area truly has something for everyone, and no one spot fits all buyers.
What can you tell us about the current market and reasons to have confidence?
The current market is still a strong market! People are still out there, selling and buying. There seems to be a misconception today that if you don’t get the same “deal” that you would have had a year ago, it’s not a good deal. That’s simply not true. The fact is home values are still up and, while rates have increased slightly, buyers are no longer competing against five other buyers or offering huge escalation clauses when submitting contracts. It’s a win/win for both sides today.
Please explain your role and principles as a real estate agent.
My approach has always been about honesty, even if what I have to say is not going to be popular! My goal is to have each client experience the smoothest transaction possible with exceptional customer service, in-depth knowledge of the industry, and transparency. I hope that every client looks back on the process and knows that I did everything I could to help facilitate the transaction with the utmost care, energy, and thoughtfulness. I believe that these principles are what brought me to this stage in my career and have afforded me the good fortune to work alongside, and have the support of, the highly experienced agents of The Mr. Waterfront Team.
