The Face of a Family Legacy
A family legacy of volunteerism began in 1970 in Easton, MD with Waterfowl Festival Co‑Founder Bill Perry and continued with wife Betty, their children and grandchildren. This tradition goes on as the festival enters into its 53rd year. Four generations of dedicated volunteers continue to join together each year in support of this iconic festival that celebrates the wildlife art heritage, eastern shore folklife traditions, and habitat conservation efforts. Currently, Bill’s granddaughter Colin is celebrating thirty years as a volunteer and is a member of the Board of Directors, helping to guide the organization into its sixth decade. Unwavering in their support of the conservation and educational mission of the festival, the extended Perry family created the William A. Perry Scholarship fund in 1997 as a way to encourage young community members to engage in the festival and understand its important role in the community. Thousands of dollars are awarded each year, each student furthering the rich tradition of this impactful non‑profit organization.
