brSummertime is prime season for musical fun and our area is chock-full of entertainment. Want to unwind on the water to some of your favorite hits? Check. Want to rock out to tunes spanning several decades? Check. Want to see a critically acclaimed actor show off his musical chops in Annapolis? Check. br
brGet up and dance on the beach to music guaranteed to lighten the mood at Chesapeake Beach Resort & Spa’s Rock the Dock Summer Music Series. Tonight from 7-9:45 p.m. there will be a tribute to The Eagles, the group that brought us “Hotel California” and “Take it Easy.” The tributes continue Friday night from 6:45-10:45 p.m. as homage is paid to country music superstars Tim McGraw & Faith Hill. Harry Traynham will be performing Saturday at 6:30 p.m. with a playlist spanning over three decades and a hundred songs. This weekend’s closeout performance will be performed by Cray Fish from 4-8 p.m. on Sunday. br
brRams Head on Stage will host The Bacon Brothers (Kevin and Michael) for four shows on Friday and Saturday evenings. Soul vocalist Rahsaan Patterson and Shelea will also be performing two shows tonight (6:30 p.m. and 9:30 p.m.) and The Iguanas take the stage Sunday at 8 p.m. br
brRock legend Bret Michaels will be performing a sold out show at Rams Head Center Stage in Hanover tonight at 8 p.m. The nine-member group Nightsong will take the same stage Saturday at 9 p.m. br
brEnjoy authentic German cuisine at the Old Stein Inn in Mayo with live music as Sylvia shows off her talents on the accordion. br
brMetropolitan Kitchen and Lounge is hosting Mariner Music Fest on Saturday from noon to midnight. The festival begins with a kids fest on the rooftop from 12-4 p.m. The entertainment includes “The Singing Lizard” and Miss Mandy from Chesapeake Music Together as well as arts, crafts, and a musical instrument zoo where kids are able to play and touch real instruments. From 3 p.m. to midnight, the big kids come out to play on the second floor with music performed by the Austin Ellis, Carl Reef, Undertoes, Shirkaday, 99 1/2 Blues Band, Drew Stevyns, Jocelyn Faro, Skribe and What Happens in Vegas, featuring Les Warner from The Cult! All ticket proceeds benefit the scholarship programs for the Avergon Foundation.br
brThe Annapolis Towne Centre Friday Night Summer Concert Series continues tomorrow night with local favorite Swamp Candy.br
Love Story will perform at Café Mezzanotte in Severna Park on Saturday at 8 p.m. br
D’Vibe and Conga will be bringing their island sounds to the Waugh Chapel Towne Centre Saturday Night Summer Concert Series from 7-8:30 p.m. and the Historic London Town Summer Concert Series on Sunday from 5-7 p.m.br
brIn the mood for a dramatic and captivating musical display? The Maryland Lyric Opera presents an opera performance of Cavalleria Rusticana and I Pagliacci at the Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center in College Park this Saturday at 7 p.m. br
brThe Eastern Shore is also full of music this weekend. Take The Jetty for example. Six performances will take place from Friday through Sunday at the popular waterfront bar. The entertainment consists of the Jason Siemer Duo (3 p.m.) and Whitehouse Effect (8:30 p.m.) on Friday, Kajun Kelly (3 p.m.) and No Pets for Noah (8:30 p.m.) on Saturday, and Classic Case (3 p.m.) and Back by Sunrise (8:30 p.m.) on Sunday. br
Summer Concerts in Muskrat Park in St. Michaels continue with a free performance from The Bay Jazz Project tonight from 6:30-8 p.m. Swing City, Delmarva's Big Band will be playing Saturday night from 7-8:30 p.m. at Music in the Park at Fountain Park in Chestertown. This week’s 2014 Riverfront Concert Series at the Custom House on the Washington College campus in Chestertown features a show by Victoria Vox & Katie Chambers tonight at 6:30 p.m.br
