Anne Arundel Medical Center’s annual holiday light show, Lights on the Bay, will make its return this Saturday and run through New Year’s Day at Sandy Point State Park. With over 60 light displays on a two-mile drive alongside the Chesapeake Bay, Lights on the Bay is open nightly from 5-10 p.m. Nightly scavenger hunts will take place for kids to find items within the show where they can answer questions about the display. Santa will make an appearance on Thanksgiving Day and on every weekend through Christmas Eve. Tonight Lights on the Bay will play host to Lights & Leashes, which is your chance to experience the displays by foot with your four-legged friend two days before it opens to vehicles.
Come help the Annapolis Towne Centre start its holiday festivities with its Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony. Santa will make his way to Smyth Jewelers and there will be performances by the Performing & Visual Arts Department of Wiley H. Bates Middle School and St. Mary’s Saints in the Spotlight Choir. Free hot chocolate and cookies will be served to warm up the crowd.
In Columbia, the Symphony of Lights will usher in its holiday season with The Dazzle Dash, a 1.4 mile run/walk through more than 250,000 bulbs in 70 ight and colorful displays at Symphony Woods. The dash takes place Saturday from 5-7:30 p.m. and Sunday from 4-7:30 p.m. with a cost of $25 per participant. Along with the race, Dazzle Dash activities include face painting, crafts and a moon bounce.
If you need some cardiovascular activity before next week’s turkey-induced food coma, Denton Elementary School is the place to be. The festive and family-oriented Turkey Trot will be preceded Saturday at 9 a.m. by the Little Pilgrim Wee Walk for children 2-5 years old. Ribbons will be awarded to all participants in that walk. There will be a strolling turkey, face painting, crafts, free refreshments and more. The trot officially begins at 9:30 a.m.
