One thing that we have all been waiting for is the reopening of libraries. Now, you can still pick up new books to occupy your time. Monday through Friday, from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m., most Anne Arundel County libraries are offering contactless, curbside pick-up. The process is easy:
- Place your items on hold online with your library card or call your local location and wait to be notified that your hold is available.
- When you are notified, go to the library (with your library card) and park in designated pick-up spaces, text the phone number listed on the sign in the parking lot. If you are not able to text, call the branch and provide your library card number and name.
- Remain in your car until your items are placed on the table set outside and wait until the staff member has stepped away.
- Grab your items and enjoy!!
- When you are done with your books, place them in the book drop.
Make sure to double check your location. Broadneck, Busch Annapolis and Riviera Beach libraries are not offering curbside pickup. Discoveries: The Library at the Mall has a different set of instructions for pickup
Queen Anne’s County: Put some new books on hold in Queen Anne’s County as well. Pickup will be from 10 a.m. - 6:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. Friday. When you are notified, pick-up up to 20 books, DVDs, or audiobooks. There is no book delivery from other counties, but they will do their best to fill your request. Once your materials are returned, they will be quarantined for 72 hours to ensure that any potential for contamination is removed.
Dorchester County: Wednesday of last week, the Cambridge Library started accepting returns in the outside drop boxes. The fees will be waived for late items and the items will be quarantined for 7 days before they are re-shelved.
Kent County: Kent County Public Libraries are offering talk or text with a librarian from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. Monday through Friday. Please keep your rentals at home until the libraries open back up.
Worchester County: Library-to-go is available in Worchester. Contact your library at least 24 hours before you want to pick up your materials and schedule a time to pick-up up to 20 books, 5 DVDs or audiobooks in a safe, no-contact environment.
Wicomico County: All branches and Bookmobile are closed; Downtown & Pittsville locations are the only ones accepting material returns. No donations and fines are waived during this time.
