During a recent visit to her studio Ramsey reflected on the work she produced this year. ‘The dominant theme present in my new paintings is conveyed through linear interactions. I chose to title the exhibition Line Dancing because the lines on the canvas seem to dance with each other, circling warily, joining in ecstasy, crossing in conflict and pushing against the confines of the canvas in a cele ation of growth and discovery.” Ramsey, who is small in stature, was nearly dwarfed by the large-scale vi ant canvases surrounding her as she gestured excitedly and spoke of her journey. “They are the carriers of intense color, like the bold crayon strokes of a child. In dense networks the lines also act as nests or incubators of future growth in a kind of controlled chaos.”
The Chester River remains Ramsey’s muse. She has lined along its banks for over thirty years and worked tirelessly with the Chester River Association to protect this precious resource for future generations. Her respect and reverence for the river is apparent in every painting.
Gallery hours during the exhibit are Wednesday through Friday, 11am – 3pm, and Saturday 10am – 5pm. The Gallery will be open selected Sundays from 11am – 3pm.
