By Stephen Perraud
The Werk Out Music Festival, a gathering organized by eponymous rockers The Werks, offers live music lovers from our area a chance to mingle with Midwestern fans and experience big names in the jam-festival scene in a smaller festival environment.
With electronic instrumental juggernaut STS9 performing two full sets, late night performances by funk mainstays Lettuce and The Motet, and a taste of burgeoning pickers Greensky Bluegrass, The Werks are providing an established framework for spreading their own gospel.
Whereas most festivals featuring acts which draw as well as the aforementioned festival veterans tend to be pricier, charge a premium for alcohol, and guarantee a longer walk for general admission campers, The Werk Out hits a sweet spot allowing for these names on a bill to pair with the convenience of a laidback, intimate festival. Attendees can expect reasonable sightlines for viewing music, closer camping space, and have permission to ing their own beer. Werks for us.
