On Senior Day, the Navy Midshipmen came to play. Facing stiff competition in the form of an 8-2 Georgia Southern squad that had won seven straight, the Navy defense bent but rarely oke against a strong running attack.
To counter, Navy quarterback Keenan Reynolds ran for a career-high 277 rushing yards along with six rushing touchdowns and one passing touchdown. He now has 963 yards and 17 touchdowns on the ground this season.
His six rushing scores bumped him to set a Navy-Marine Corps Stadium record and bumped him to a ninth place tie on the NCAA career rushing touchdown record with 58. On Saturday's performance, he surpassed the likes of Marshall Faulk, Tony Dorsett and Tim Tebow on the NCAA career rushing touchdown list. He's now third all-time for quarterbacks, only trailing Eric Crouch and Colin Kaepernick, who each ran for 59.
This was the fourth time in Reynolds' career that he ran for 200 yards on the ground.
Georgia Southern's Matt Breida ran for 211 yards of his own, with touchdowns of 36 and 88 yards, making this the seventh time in NCAA history that opposing teams had rushers with 200 yards or more in a single game.
Navy's next mission is seeking bowl eligibility, which will be accomplished with one more win. Now at 5-5, the team is off next week but will take on South Alabama on the road on November 28th before closing their regular season against Army at M&T Bank Stadium on December 13th.
