Navy quarterback Keenan Reynolds hadn't played football in three weeks. He sat out Navy's win over VMI two weeks ago and rested during the team's bye week last weekend.
He looked refreshed when taking on San Jose State Saturday at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium. Memories of last year's NCAA record-setting seven-touchdown performance against the Spartans are still fresh.
Navy started out slow, losing a fumble on their first play from scrimmage and not scoring a point until three seconds into the second quarter.
That score led to a 24-point second quarter by the Mids, who went on to roll to a 41-21 win in large part to Reynolds.
The junior quarterback set career-highs in rushes (39) and yards (251) while running for three touchdowns. Now with 52 career touchdowns, Reynolds oke Navy's all-time record for career touchdowns, previously held by quarterback Ricky Dobbs, who scored 49.
Navy is now 4-4 and takes on vaunted rival Notre Dame at FedExField on Saturday, Nov. 1 at 8 p.m.
