The Navy Midshipmen extended their winning streak over the Army Black brKnights to 14 games with a 21-17 victory in Philadelphia on Saturday. brThe win improved No. 21 Navy to 10-2 on the season. It's the fourth time in thebr program's 135-year history that it has reached 10 wins in a season. The Mids also reached that mark in 2009 (10-4),br2004 (10-2) andbr1905 (10-1-1).
Navy quarterback Keenan Reynolds continued to score touchdowns and set records along the way. The senior ran for two touchdowns, surpassing the FBS and NCAA all-time career touchdown records. With one game remaining on the schedule, Reynolds has 85 total career touchdowns.
Saturday's victory signified the last time Reynolds would ever face Army. It may also be Navy head coach Ken Niumatalolo's final game against the Black Knights. He is scheduled to visit BYU for their vacant head coaching position on Monday. Niumatalolo, the winningest coach in program history, improved to 8-0 against Army and 67-37 overall as Navy's head coach.
Many dignitaries were in attendance for the most storied rivalry in sports, including 1963 Heisman winner Roger Staubach, Navy basketball great David Robinson and United States Secretary of Defense Ash Carter.
The victory marked Navy's 11th consecutive senior class to finish 4-0 against Army in their career. Army now drops to 2-10 on the season. A win over Pittsburgh in the Military Bowl on December 28 at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium would mark the first 11-win season in program history.
