Showcasing the swan’s elegant lines and form are carvings, paintings, photography, and more at the debut mixed-media exhibit, Swanfall, taking place December 2nd through Fe uary 5th at The Ward Museum of Wildfowl Art in Salisbury.r
“Tundra swans were selected for a winter exhibit in part because the tundra swans spend their winters in the Chesapeake Bay area and although we have focused exclusively on other bird species, like crows, we have never featured an exhibit on swans before,” says Dr. Cynthia Byrd, Ward Museum curator and folklorist.
In addition to featuring more than 40 swan-related works by 15 artists, the exhibit features “exclusive photography from Tom Horton and David Harp's book, Swanfall: Journey of the Tundra Swans, which explores the characteristics and behavior of swans. “The poetic style of the text and striking close-up photography appeal to audiences of all ages,” explains Dr. Byrd.
