If you've been in Annapolis at all over the past couple days, I'm sure you've noticed that the United States Sailboat Show is back in town. The Annapolis Harbor is flooded with sailboats, traffic downtown is busy, busy, busy, and the sidewalks are teeming with visitors.

So, now that you've observed the effects that the Sailboat Show has on Naptown, why not stop by?

The Untied States Sailboat Show the nation's oldest and largest in-water sailboat show, and is recognized as the best and biggest in the industry. It features new sailboats, sailing accessories, equipment, and services. Tickets run between $4 and $35, with children 6 and under getting in for free (lucky). And, the show runs through the 10th, so you'll have plenty of time to stop by.

Let's say, though, that you're going to be on the Shore this weekend, and you just don't feel like making the drive over the Bridge. Believe me, I understand.

But, not to fret, there's plenty of cool stuff going on on the eastern side of the Bay too.

On Saturday, from 3-9 p.m., Cannery Way Park in Cam idge plays host to the Hot Sauce and Oyster Festival. There, attendees will be able to get their hands on some freshly shucked oysters, and then sample from a multitude of specialty hot sauces. The festival will also feature live music, a beer garden, food vendors for you non-oyster folks, and plenty of other fun activities.

Admission is $5, but don't worry, all funds benefit the Dorchester Seafood Harvesters Association.

If, however, you simply must stretch your legs a little bit, and venture out into the neighboring regions, I suggest stopping by Washington D.C., because from October 8th 'til the 10th, Taste of D.C. is taking place.

Taste of D.C. not only allows you to sample from some of the capital's tastiest restaurants, it also ings you fun entertainment and events to enjoy between tasting the edible goodies.

On Sunday, for example, Hope Harris and the Cousins Jamboree are making their Washington D.C. debut in a concert for the whole family. With a Parents' Choice Silver Honor Award for her new CD Cousins Jamboree proudly in hand, the band is going to whip up their own and of "down-home" delectable musical treats at the Family Zone Stage, at 14th and Pennsylvania Avenues NW. So, pack up the kids, and head over.
