Tater tots are a classic breakfast treat. But when you fill them with smoky bacon and gooey cheddar, they are taken to a whole new level. br
Ingredients
3 russet potatoes, peeled
6 slices bacon, cooked and crumbled
3 ounces cheddar cheese
3/4 cup flour
salt and pepper to taste
oil for frying
Directions
Grate the potatoes on the side of a box grater until finely grated. Place them in a dish cloth or cheese cloth and strain out the liquid. Place the potatoes in a bowl with bacon, cheddar cheese and flour and mix until well-combined. Heat 1/2 inch oil in a large sauce pan. While oil heats, form the potato mixture into tots. Place the tots in the oil and fry until golden on all sides. Remove to a paper-towel lined plate. Sprinkle with salt and pepper.
Makes approximately 1 1/2 dozen tots, depending on the size.
