While the sweetness of a blood orange is what makes it great, the tarty citrus flavor is what we love in this classic sugar cookie. br
Ingredients
2 ¾ cups flour
1 tsp. baking soda
½ tsp. baking powder
½ tsp. salt
1 ½ cups sugar
1 cup butter, softened
½ tsp. vanilla
1 egg
Zest and juice of one blood orange
Directions
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Line cookie trays with parchment paper. In a small bowl, combine flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt. Set aside. In the bowl of a mixer, cream butter until fluffy. Add in sugar and mix to combine. Beat in egg, vanilla, zest and juice. Gradually blend in dry ingredients until combined. Scoop the dough into 1 Tbsp. balls. Place them on the parchment and bake 8 to 10 minutes until lightly golden.
Makes approximately 25 cookies
