Wegmans makes extra-large food bank donation
r
The new Waugh Chapel Wegmans and 30 of its employees worked to donate 20 palettes – approximately $30,000 worth – of food last week to the Anne Arundel Food Bank in Crownsville. Donated items included pantry staples as cereal, soup, peanut butter, pasta, canned tuna, canned vegetables, baking ingredients and meal starters and side dishes. "Feeding the hungry is one of our company's most important giving priorities," says Gerry Troisi, manager of the new Wegmans. "This is an exciting first step in what will be a close working relationship with Anne Arundel food banks and pantries." The store will continue to make regular donations to local food pantries after its opening this Sunday, October 28th.

Bowie business ings Maine lobster to MD
Maine natives Jonathan Merrill and Tyler Simpson recently started LobsterME, a service that ships fresh, live Maine lobster straight to Maryland businesses and residents. LobsterME offers live lobsters, frozen tails, and packaged meat for lobster rolls in a variety of sizes. ‘Our Maine Lobster is packaged in individual "condos" which makes them arrive fresh, live, and less "stressed" (meaning higher content of meat in the shell),” Merrill says. “They are easy to cook, steam in 1-2 inches of water for about 8 minutes (per pound of lobster). You will know when the lobster in done by the shell being ight red and the antennae comes off easily when gently pulled.” Order by calling 207-485-1955 or get more information at Facebook.com/Lobstermaine.
