PIG-FIGA-LICIOUS PIG ROAST in Oxford
brbrThe annual Pig-Figa-Licious will be held Monday, September 7 from 12 to 2 PM at the Fire House in Oxford, MD. Enjoy an authentic pig roast paired with fig fixings. There will also be DJ Chris Startt, a silent auction, and a 50/50 raffle at 2 PM. Tickets are $35 per person at the door. Children 10 and under are half price. Tickets include all-you-can-eat pork, fig dishes, and other sides (barbeque chicken will be available), as well as you choice of nonalcoholic beverage. SUMMER SENDOFF; BLUES, BREWS, AND BBQ
brThe perfect closing to summer, the Summer Sendoff is September 19th from 5 to 10 p.m. The event takes over the 400-blocks of Poplar and Race Streets in Cambridge, where food by local chefs and performances by area musicians serve as entertainment. The Wacky Main Street Mile Relay Race is also set to occur, but it’s no ordinary relay, with an egg walk and cycling on a kid-size tricycle as some of the challenges. TOUR DE TALBOT – RIDE FOR CLEAN RIVERS
brMidshore Riverkeeper Conservancy (MRC) will host the 11th Annual Tour de Talbot - Ride for Clean Rivers on Sunday, September 20th at Chesapeake College in Wye Mills. The 62-mile metric will kick-off at 8 a.m. and the 35 and 20-mile rides will follow at 10 a.m. All rides will start and finish at Chesapeake College on the Wye River. After the ride participants and volunteers can enjoy lunch, drinks, and live music all in celebration of the ride. Routes follow the flat, scenic back roads of not only Talbot County, but also Caroline and Queen Anne’s Counties, with rest stops located along the bank of the Choptank River and the scenic Tuckahoe State Park. The ride supports the work of MRC to preserve and protect the Miles, Wye, and Choptank Rivers and Eastern Bay. Registration is required for the ride. Riders can be part of a team or ride solo. Riders may procure sponsorships to help raise funds and are eligible to win prizes. Registration is $70. Kids under 16 are free. Meal tickets are available for spectators.
