Dr. Bayinnah Shabazz, is honored to be recognized by her peers as a Top Doc 2011. She is a well respected and board certified in nephrology. Her first name, Bayinnah, means “one who speaks the truth,” so Marylanders, from Baltimore to Annapolis to the Eastern Shore, have come to count on Dr. Shabazz for her signature candor with her patients for well over two decades. She is dedicated to providing compassionate and comprehensive care to her patients with chronic kidney disease and hypertension.
A graduate of Temple University Medical School. She did her residency at Baltimore's Harbor Hospital where she also served as Chief Resident. She competed her nephrology fellowship at the University of Maryland Hospital.
She joined the team at Mid-Atlantic Nephrology Associates, PA in 2002 and also serves as the Medical Director of the IDF Dialysis Center in Glen Burnie. Dr. Shabazz is a featured lecturer at many community and professional events including Nephrology Subspecialty Conferences. Dr. Shabazz is passionate about her work in the treatment of kidney disease and kidney disorders and is an active member of the American Kidney Foundation and the American Society of Nephrology. She also devotes much personal time to educating minority youth on kidney disease and disorders.
Dr. Shabazz is known for her colorful collection of hats. She wears one to the office everyday. They have long been an ice eaker, making new patients feel at ease. She is also an avid world traveler and is currently exploring the Continental U.S. in her RV. She is a wonderful cook and loves to sing. Longtime patients and their families look forward to her hats, her songs, her recipes, and her smile.
