• Sign-in will be available 30 minutes prior to auditions, which begin promptly at the start times listed above.

• In addition to cold readings from the script, auditioners will be asked to sing 16-32 bars of a musical number that demonstrates their vocal range. Please bring sheet music; piano accompaniment will be provided. Songs from this version of A Christmas Carol are permitted. No a capella or recorded accompaniment.

• Late arrivals can be accommodated as time permits. If you know you will be late, please make prior arrange- ments with director Sarah Wade by emailing

• To expedite the sign-in process, the audition form is available on the Downloads page of our website under Forms, and can be downloaded and completed in ad- vance. Please bring the completed form with your resume or list of experience, if desired, and a headshot or recent photo. If you do not have a photo, one will be taken at sign-in. NOTE: There is a special form for audi- tioners who are under 18!

• Auditioners are asked to provide a schedule of conflicts from October 4—December 16, 2018 For more information please email the Director, Sarah Wade, at AChristmasCarol@thecolonialplayers.org SYNOPSIS: This 75-minute musical adaptation of the Dickens classic was written expressly for Colonial Players and has been produced by CP for more than 30 years. The play takes place in the streets of Victorian London and in the counting house and the bedchamber of Ebenezer Scrooge. In the revelations of his visitors and in his memory, we are transported to times and places of Scrooge’s past, present and future.

CHARACTERS NOTE: All roles open. Descriptions are of character age, not age of actors.

• Ebenezer Scrooge, about 70 “The cold within him froze his old features, nipped his pointed nose, shriveled his cheek, stiffened his gait; made his eyes red, his thin lips blue; and spoke out shrewdly in his grating voice.”

• Bob Cratchit, 30s to 40s

• Mrs. Cratchit, 30s to 40s

• The Cratchit Children: Tiny Tim, Martha, Peter, Belinda, ages 7 (Tim) to late teens/early 20s

• Fred: Scrooge’s nephew, mid 20s - 30s (may also play Young Scrooge)

• Ghost of Jacob Marley, about 70

• Ghost of Christmas Past, age flexible

• Ghost of Christmas Present, age flexible
