See the Spocott Windmill in action, grinding grai n, from 10am to 3pm on Saturday, October 19 (weather permitting). Other buildings on the complex will also be open, and there will be exhibits and displays. The windmill is in action only a few times a year.

Spocott Windmill, located at 1663 Hudson Road (Route 343) in Cambridge, Maryland, is a reconstruction of a windmill built by John Anthony LeCompte Radcli ffe about 1852 and which blew down in a blizzard in 1888.

The mill is an Engl ish post mill, with the entire housing resting on one post, all owing the entire building to be turned into the wind.

The grounds have a tiny 19th century village of sorts with a country store and museum, a colonial cottage (circa 1800), schoolhouse, blac ksmith shop, doctor’s office, which will also be open for visits that day.
