Never Such Innocence Again
Join Grammy-nominated baritone Randall Scarlata, soprano Melissa Wimbish and the ACMF musicians for a one-of-a-kind event exploring the songs and chamber music of World War I. Trace the arc of the war through ripped-from-the-headlines masterpieces from Debussy, Bartok, Irving Berlin, Charles Ives, and host of others. Then, take a tour through the new styles and trends that arose from the war’s ashes, from neoclassicism to cabaret jazz. With a whirlwind of short works on the program, this concert shows off the incredible diversity of music written during the biggest period of upheaval the world has ever known.
Program to include short works by composers including Claude Debussy, Charles Ives, Irving Berlin, Enrique Granados, George Butterworth, Bela Bartok, Igor Stravinsky, Maurice Ravel, Erik Satie, Dmitri Shostakovich, Kurt Weill and more
