What better way to celebrate summer than a look at “the nation’s pastime” in feature films. In this series we’ll view four of the best of the almost 200 movies that have been dedicated to telling the story of this most defining of American sports. Each film is introduced by area cinephile Ann Glenn with info about the film’s production, director, actors and followed by a lively Q&A session.

It tells a true story concerning the American League’s Oakland A’s who, in 2001, had their best players hired away by wealthier franchises. The A’s General Manager, Billy Beane, decides to rebuild his team with a limited budget--and a never-before tried, risky strategy.
