Annapolis Opera: Tosca
Maryland Hall for the Creative Arts 801 Chase St, Annapolis, Maryland 21401
In this new production of Puccini’s Tosca, Floria Tosca is forced to decide the fate of her lover, Mario Cavaradossi, after he is caught aiding a political prisoner. Can she save Cavaradossi by giving herself to the brutal and corrupt Chief of Police, Baron Scarpia? Or are the forces of war, politics, and self-interest undefeatable? This production is set in 1943 in the midst of the brutalities of the Second World War. It brings Puccini’s glorious music together with this dramatic story of love and treachery.
