Intro to Graphic Design for teens ages 12-16.
How does design create emotion? What’s the personality of a font? Why does McDonalds use the color red? These are among the questions we’ll ask as we leap into the wonderfully awesome world of graphic design. Students will be exposed to basic principles of design and learn how to create type with personality and choose colors with confidence. Students will design multiple concepts using the leading industry tools of professionals, the Adobe Creative Cloud Suite. The class is designed to be participatory in nature, and our goal is to provide students with a foundational understanding of graphic design and an early introduction into the tools that bring ideas to life. A working laptop—generally speaking, the faster, the better—and an Adobe Creative Cloud subscription is required but student discounts are readily available.
