ArtFarm Studios - Beatmaking + Music Inspired Art Summer Artcamp
This is a two part camp taught by beat-maker Malcolm McFadden and artist Andy Katz.
Each morning session, students will be learning the ins and outs of Native Instrumentals Maschine MK2. Students will be using the Maschine to sample songs and drums to make beats or instrumentals. Students will also learn how to sample songs from a record player.
In the afternoon, student artists will be decoding and extracting meaning from their favorite music, beats, rhythm, and lyrics. In exploring various media (paint, pen and ink, graphite, collage, digital drawing, etc.) each artist will generate a series of artworks that are directly inspired and influenced by their music investigations. Visual brainstorming and digital drawing approaches will help students navigate the creative process, and should result in rich visual experiments. (All tools will be provided by the instructor).
Sessions are 7 hours each day, Monday-Friday (9am-4pm). Campers will need to pack their lunch for each day.
