Behind The Build Making Public Art Happen
How do large-scale public art projects actually happen? Join the Neighborhood Design Center for a behind-the-scenes look at the expertise, partnerships, and processes that brought Inviting Light to life—one of Baltimore’s most ambitious recent public art initiatives.
Produced by Central Baltimore Partnership in partnership with the Neighborhood Design Center and the Mayor’s Office of Arts, Culture and Entertainment, Inviting Light was supported by a $1 million Bloomberg Philanthropies Public Art Challenge award. The two-year initiative transformed the Station North Arts District with five large-scale, light-based installations.
This special event will explore how the project was developed, the cross-sector collaborations that made it possible, and the role public art can play in shaping place, community, and identity. Attendees will have the opportunity to see the five installations and learn more about the project’s impact on Baltimore’s creative landscape.
