Jack Everly returns to BSO Sessions for a performance featuring the music of Spain as interpreted by a Spanish, a French, and a Russian composer. Albeniz’ Córdoba, a standard for classical guitar, is here beautifully performed by the BSO. España, a fast and light-hearted rhapsody, was written by Chabrier after a vacation through the south of Spain. Not to be missed is Shchedrin’s Carmen Ballet, a masterful rearrangement of Bizet’s famous opera. Familiar melodies are reworked in ingenious ways that frequently highlight the talents of the percussion section. Be drawn in for an hour by the effervescent energy of these pieces and Jack’s quintessential charm.
Repertoire:
ALBÉNIZ (arr. Everly) Córdoba
CHABRIER (arr. Everly) España
