Chesapeake Arts Center (CAC) is proud to announce its vibrant celebration of National Hispanic Heritage Month, a time to honor the rich contributions of Hispanic and Latino cultures to the United States. With two captivating gallery exhibitions and engaging educational programming, CAC invites our community neighbors and visitors to immerse themselves in the artistic essence of Hispanic and Latino heritage
Exhibitions: Until All Are Free - Internationally acclaimed Latino artist Jess Raudales takes center stage in our Gallery 194 starting September 7th. Raudales' work is a powerful exploration of the social and political challenges faced by minority groups in the United States. Don't miss the anticipated exhibit reception on September 16th from 5-8 pm.
Voices of Hispanic and Latinx Artist Exhibit - Also opening on September 7th, this exhibition showcases the work of 14 talented local Hispanic artists. The gallery bursts with vibrant colors and life, offering a glimpse into the culture and artistic styles rooted in their heritage. Join us for the artist reception on September 21st from 6-8 pm.
Educational Programs: Stories & Art in the Galleries - A bilingual family program designed for children ages 2-6 and their caregivers. Enjoy the enchanting story of Gustavo, the Shy Ghost and participate in a paper mache sugar skulls activity on October 28th from 10-10:45 am.
Thanks to the generous support of the Community Foundation of Anne Arundel County and the Maryland Heritage Area Authority, this program is completely free.
Mini Makers - Starting September 12th, CAC introduces its newest FREE bilingual early art education program. Held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:30 am to 12 pm, Mini Makers offers a play-based curriculum for students aged 3.5-5. Led by our new instructor, Columbia native Lorena Solano, this program provides a safe and supportive environment for young learners to explore and create while developing vital skills such as idea generation, problem solving, and social skills. The generosity of the Kathy and Jerry Wood Foundation makes this program possible.
