The Wild bergamot (Monarda fitulosa) is a good choice for a pollinator garden. The pinkish-purple flowers (June-September) attract hummingbirds and butterflies.
Environmental Concern (EC) will offer an attractive variety of quality native plants at their Spring Native Plant Sale and Monarch Festival on Friday, May 10 and Saturday, May 11 from 9:00 am – 4:00 pm. With over 47 years of experience growing plants native to the Chesapeake Bay watershed, EC is sure to have the perfect plant to fill that troublesome spot in your garden. EC’s Professional Landscape Architect, Diane Miller, and Nursery Managers, John Sandkuhler and Lyndsey Pollock, will be available to answer customer’s questions about creating rain gardens, living shorelines, and stormwater management ponds. EC’s native plant specialists will help visitors choose the appropriate plants for specific site conditions. We invite you to take part in our first Monarch Festival, a new addition to the Spring Plant Sale. EC is raising awareness about the dramatic decline in Monarch habitat, and the need to increase habitat in the Mid-Atlantic region.
